Clymping win

Rye U 0 - 1 Clymping

A very blustery wind blowing into Ryes back wasn't used to any advantage in
the first half.
Things looked promising when Leach shot over in the second minute and
Clymping willingly gave the ball up in midfield.

However within the first 5
minutes the game was to be decided when Rye delayed on the ball in their own
goal area ,and a slip over gifted the opposition striker who made no
mistake.

This was Clympings only shot in the whole of the first half.
Rye then proceeded to get back into the game but long balls continually
being carried out by the severe wind.

Even Gardners goal kicks were going
out in 2 bounces while Clympings Goal Kicks being held up in the wind not making the half
way line.
Macca had a shot easily caught by the keeper and the same players free kick
moments later fell to Danny Woodley whose inviting cross which nearly went
in.
One of the linesmen pulled a muscle so the rye "caretaker" had to step in to
allow the game to continue.

Efforts from Clarke (header ) from Radleys lob
and a leach shot after a Macca run were the only highlights.

Rye won loads
of free kicks and corners but none came up to scratch, the ball usually over
hit. The half ended with another Clarke header from another Woodley cross.

Second half and the wind had died down and it was Climping that had Rye
scrambling back. An early shot bounced in front of Gardner who saved with
his body only for an identical scenario a minute later. Clymping were
speculating and shooting on site something Rye seem to have been reluctant
to do. an example of this was when Clymping came close to doubling their
score when a Free kick h from 30 yds floated and dipped thumping the cross
bar.

After 20 second half minutes Rye hadnt had one effort at goal even though Rye
had 3 one on ones with the keeper. All ending up being chased down by
defenders still didn't let a shot away.
Woodley still getting crosses over for Clarke to head one bringing a
fingertip save from their keeper leading to yet another Rye corner.
Clymping still despite not seeing much of the ball ended up with another
gift and Gardner had to come right to the edge of his area to close down.
Luckily the ball went out for a goal kick.

Moments later Danny woodley
cleared the rye goal with a header from a Clymping corner. The resulting
corner involved Woodley again who lashed on the line and hit his own cross
bar. Clymping claiming the ball had gone in.
After that for the last 15 mins or so it was mainly all Rye. Wanting too
much time when infront of goal or taking one more touch meant that Clymping
actually dominated in the shots count.

Rye were unlucky not to equalise when lofty headed over and Maccas shot from
4 yards out sailed over the angle.
Clymping had the last word with a lob that went over the bar when they
should have added to their tally.
